Long White Cane and Bling Ring Field Test Opportunity with APH

The American Printing House for the Blind (APH) is seeking Orientation and Mobility Specialists to participate in a field test of a new long white cane prototype designed for K–12 students who are blind or visually impaired. Participants will also field test the Bling Ring, a small charm accessory that attaches to the cane and allows students to add Jibbitz (Crocs charms). This field test will help evaluate real-world usability, durability, and instructional impact of both the cane and the Bling Ring during authentic O&M instruction. Who Should Apply Orientation and Mobility Specialists currently working with K–12 students who use long white canes and who are able to integrate the prototype into regular O&M instruction. Observe student performance related to comfort, feedback, control, durability, and overall usability. Gather student reactions to the Bling Ring as a personalization and engagement tool.
