
Lovable lets you build an app in hours. The question is whether what you built makes sense to anyone who wasn't in the room when you built it. This guide shows you how to get real user feedback on your Lovable app before you launch: five users, one task, one afternoon of review.
Lovable is genuinely impressive. You describe what you want, the AI builds it, you deploy. An app that would have taken weeks to scaffold from scratch is live in a day.
But "live" isn't the same as "working for users."
The app works for you. You designed it. You know where everything is. You understand the terminology because you wrote the prompts. The mental model embedded in the UI is your mental model, and it makes complete sense to you.
The people you built it for had no part in any of that. They'll approach your app with different expectations, different vocabulary, and different assumptions about where things should be. When those don't match what you built, they don't complain. They leave.
Testing with real users before you launch is how you close that gap. When you test a Lovable app before launch, you're not testing whether the app works technically. You're testing whether it works for users: whether they can figure out what to do, whether the flow makes sense, whether the terminology matches how they think about the problem.
These are different things, and only one of them can be tested by the builder.
The most common failure mode in Lovable-built apps isn't a bug. It's a navigation choice that made complete sense to the person who built it and makes no sense to anyone else. It's a label that uses internal language instead of user language. It's an onboarding flow that skips context the builder takes for granted.
Five users, one task, one session each. That's what catches it.
Before you recruit anyone, decide what the most important task in your app is. Not a tour of all the features, the single thing a user most needs to be able to do.
For a project management app: "Create a new project and invite your team."
For a booking tool: "Find an available slot and book it."
For a dashboard: "Find the metric you'd look at first thing Monday morning."
One task per round. You can always run another round. Trying to test everything in one session produces sessions that are too long and findings that are too diluted.
Five is the right number. Not two (not enough to see patterns). Not twenty (diminishing returns, too much scheduling). Five.
Where to find them:
Direct outreach. If you know who your target user is, you almost certainly know five of them. A direct message like "I built something I'd love your honest reaction to, 30 minutes, happy to compensate you" converts surprisingly well.
Your waitlist or early interest list. If you've been collecting emails, these are your best recruits. They've already signaled interest. A "we'd love to talk to you before we launch" message works well.
Lovable community. The Lovable Discord and community forums are full of builders who understand the product development process. Peer-to-peer testing is common and welcomed.
LinkedIn. Direct outreach to people with the right job title or use case. One short paragraph, what you built, what you're asking for, and what they'll get for their time.

Write your task as a scenario, not an instruction:
Good: "Imagine you just signed up for [app name]. Your goal is to [core task]. Go ahead and try that now."

The scenario version tests whether they can figure it out on their own. The instruction version tests whether they can follow directions, which tells you nothing useful.
Don't use the same words as your UI. If your button says "Create Workspace," don't say "create a workspace" in the task. You want to see if they find the right element on their own.
Add one follow-up question at the end:
"If a friend asked you what this app does and who it's for, what would you tell them?"
The answer tells you whether your positioning landed: whether the product communicated its purpose clearly enough that a new user could summarize it.
After five sessions, open the recordings. For each one, note:
After all five, look for the patterns. Things that happen in three or more sessions are worth fixing. Things that only happened once might be individual variation.

Classify findings into three buckets:
