Web Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: August 9, 2024

Summary

At Great Question, we want as many people as possible to be able to use our product, website, help center, and blog.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, and we go about that in several ways:

  • Annual accessibility audits by a 3rd-party
  • Prioritizing resolution of accessibility issues
  • Team education and training on accessibility

Based on our most recent audit in July 2024, we are currently partially-compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidelines.

Our committment

Annual accessibility audits by a 3rd-party
We commit to having an external audit conducted by a 3rd-party every year to evaluate the accessibility of our product and identify issues for us to fix. Our most recent audit was completed in July 2024, for which we have a VPAT report to summarize the findings.

Prioritizing resolution of accessibility issues
Following the annual audit, we prioritize the work to begin fixing the accessibility issues that were found. We prioritize based on the severity of the issue identified, with Blocking issues being focused on first. We strive to address all the accessibility issues found in the audit.

Team education and training on accessibility
We believe that the best way to design and build an accessible product is to bake it into how our teams operate, so that it’s part of the normal work we do instead of something we try to fix reactively after every audit. Our goal is to never create the same accessibility issue twice, and we think a key part of that is ensuring the team has the education and resources to understand why accessibility matters and how to build for it.

In February 2024, our design and engineering team all completed a Web Accessibility course on Udacity in order to better understand the fundamentals of web accessibility. In the same month after the course, a member of our engineering team led an internal workshop to highlight some of the specific tactics to improve accessibility on our products.

Education will be an ongoing pillar of how we think about improving accessibility of our products for the long-term.

Our compliance status

Great Question’s product is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidelines.

Based on our most recent audit, the vast majority of known issues relate to Screen Readers. We have fewer known issues related to Keyboard, High Contrast, Color Contrast and Browser Zoom.
