Online Tasks
Get a clear understanding of what Online Tasks are, why they matter, and how to create, manage, and troubleshoot external research activities inside Great Question.
What Are Online Tasks?
Online Tasks enables you to link any external research activity—such as a usability test, survey, prototype evaluation, or custom tool—to Great Question.
Why It Matters
- Centralize workflow even when using multiple research tools.
- Reduce tool‑hopping by keeping screening, invites, and incentives inside Great Question.
- Scale external research without losing visibility into participant progress.
Common Use Cases
Use Case | Description |
External Usability Tests | Link participants to a usability test hosted elsewhere while managing invites in Great Question. |
Third‑Party Surveys | Direct participants to tools like Typeform, Google Forms, or SurveyMonkey. |

Troubleshooting Online Tasks
Issue | What’s Happening | How to Fix It |
Task link doesn’t open | URL incorrect or content requires login | Ensure the link is public and accessible; update the Task link field |
Participants show as “Invited” after completing the external task | External platforms don’t auto‑notify Great Question | Manually mark participants as Completed or add a confirmation question |
Participants click the link but don’t submit | Participant closed the tab early or had loading issues | Ask participants to stay until the final confirmation page loads |
Incentives not sent | Participant not marked as Completed or incentives set to manual review | Update participant status to Completed or trigger incentives manually |
External task displays an error | Task is unpublished or expired on the host platform | Republish your external test and update the link in Great Question |
Task appears cut off on mobile | External tool not mobile optimized | Add instructions recommending desktop completion |
No activity shows in Great Question | Completion must be tracked manually | Add confirmation questions or manually upload results into the Repository |
Task inaccessible on mobile | External platform requires desktop-only features | Screen participants for device type or include “Desktop only” instructions |
